Actually, there are hundreds of ways to say hi in Switzerland, depending on which canton you are in, but that’s for another blog post.

What I want to talk about are the words that occupied my mind today: “You can do anything you want with your life”. Such a simple sentence yet so powerful.

Looking back on my life I find this so true. I was born in the Republic of Moldova in a very small village. Since this country didn’t offer too many opportunities I went to Romania for primary school and high school. After that, I went to Denmark to get my bachelor’s degree, and now I am living and working in the capital of Switzerland, Bern.

And I am only 26 years old. So just do it, as Nike says. Life is short, live it, the way you want it.

I am happy to announce that I did all the things that I said I will do in my last post. I did learn german (not perfect though, but I can communicate :), I read those books, I took that drawing course, I was consistent.

And that’s how I think you build confidence, by keeping to what you promised.

Moving to Switzerland 30.03.2022

How did that happen?

I got an offer from CASCINATION as a Digital Marketing Specialist and I accepted.

CASCINATION is a Swiss medical device company with a mission to bring certainty to medical treatment outcomes. They use robotic and image-guided solutions to enable clinicians to perform reproducible and efficient interventions across a range of disciplines from cancer treatment to the treatment of hearing disorders.

Fighting cancer? That’s a big mission and one of the reasons for accepting this position.

Plus the city is amazing. You have green parks at every corner and a lot of cool buildings and offices. It’s like they managed to combine traditional with modern.

Another awesome thing about Switzerland is that you can choose how many percentages you want to work. The offer was 80%, meaning I will work 4 days per week and my Friday will be always free, so that gives me time to focus on whatever I want.

I don’t want to give the information too early but I am already thinking of creating something new

Just make sure you keep an eye from time to time for the updates.

This month I am starting to see all those hours I spent during lockdown to write content.

Domain Digital Agency

This month we hit 12 months since I am working for this website. One year! Happy Birthday! 

The plan for the next 12 months is to invest in backlinks.

I already started with a 155$ dollars backlink :). I am tracking all my costs using Google Planner. 

Total word count = 102,866

I hit 100k this month and I released this content marketing study case.

Which means from now on, I will post two articles per month. 

The Youtube Channel for this website has ten videos and 40 subscribers. The plan is not to give up till I hit 100 videos.

A happy experiment for me. When I started this website, I had no plan to grow it as I have now. I just had a writer who owns me 30.000 words, and I said, okay, let’s build a new website, and that’s how I started :))

With basically 0 research, just for fun.

I plan to add 10.000 words each month. I am a bit behind, but this will change from 2021.

The traffic is still 0, strange! It could be the fact that this niche is highly competitive or it got affected by this period, or it could be both hehe

Let’s start with the websites, this month I am starting to see some small improvements in ranking and traffic.

I am using my content planner to stay organised and focused.

My digital agency is starting to occupy 80% of my time. Which is cool, because September was the best month in terms of revenue since covid hit.

I am hoping we will survive.

The organic traffic is improving even though I built 0 backlinks for this website.

Organic Traffic is still 0 per month. I understand that this crisis hit this niche, but I expect at least one article to rank
Maybe it needs some backlinks, heh.
The plan for next month is to migrate to faster hosting.

Welcome to another update of 1 million dollar journey!

In this post, I will discuss what I did in August and what happened with my websites.

Let’s start!

Mentality

My focus is slowly starting to change. 

What do I mean by that? Instead of focusing on how much money this guy or that project can bring to me, now I am asking how I can solve his problems, will I be the best guy to solve his problems? 

I know it sounds like all the gurus out there. Still, when I compare a goal like “make 1 million dollars” to “inspire 1 million people to do something awesome with their lives “, the second one scares me and motivates me at the same time. The joy of having a positive impact on so many lives it’s so rewarding. 

Anyway, why not have both ? right?  

What’s crazy is that people started to notice this change. Or maybe it’s just in my head, but I think they feel I genuinely want to help them out. 

For example, I spent more than 4 hours with a guy trying to explain to her how Google and websites work in general. 

I knew from the start that this guy would not bring me any money. It was just me trying to help him out.

Guess what happened next? 

This guy introduced me to another guy, got around 50 dollars. 

Small project. Peanuts, I know. 

But this other guy introduced me to another guy and got nearly 2000 dollars. 

So you see how the universe works :))

Crazy. 

Okay, enough talk.

As you know from my previous update, I started 2 Youtube Channels. 

Since my last video, I got amazing feedback from you guys! Thank you so much! 

My focus now is to improve content quality and produce at least four videos /month. 

Channel number 1 has 6 videos. 

Channel number 2 has 8 videos. 

My goal is not to give up on Youtube until I get 100 videos on both channels. My focus is exclusively on the content, not on metrics like views or subscribers.

What I plan to do next month is schedule at least two videos/ per channel. One for every week. 

This way, I will make sure I am consistent, and I don’t burnout.

I am happy to announce this month I got accepted on Amazon Affiliate Program. 

They reviewed my websites, and I got accepted. 

I am very happy given the fact that this affiliate journey is still pretty new, and it’s already starting to show some results.

An interesting thing happened with this website. I got hacked; they used a vulnerability on the wp file manager plugin. We managed to recover all the data in a couple of hours, so we are safe.

What I plan to do next month:

Change the hosting for all my websites. I use Namecheap now, and I am having a terrible experience with them. I have WordPress websites that literally have four static pages, and it takes 7 seconds just to get a response from the server.

Maybe I will write about this in another blog post.

What else happened

As you know, this is my first time when I try Amazon Affiliate, and this month I got my first two orders. One more and I will get my account reviewed.

Another thing, I started 2 Youtube channels. One for the Romanian market where I explain easy concepts from digital marketing using VideoScribe.

The reason behind this is to explain my potential customers some marketing concepts without spending hours doing it. Got 26 subscribers already :))

The second channel is where I document my digital journey. It’s hard for me because I get really nervous behind the camera, but I am trying to get in as many uncomfortable situations as possible this year :))

The plan for this channel is to document + talk about “how to make money online.” It’s a big and competitive niche, I know, but this industry is exploding due to COV, and people got laid off, forcing them to try to find another income source.

In total I made 7 videos last month.

Online Marketing Journey Update

First of all, I can not believe 6 months passed already.

It’s crazy how time flies. The world is still a mess with all the problems that knock at the door, but I am pretty positive about it.

Anyway let’s start with the websites.

Domain 1 – Outdoor

This domain is literally 1 month old and it starts to get views in Google Search Console.

It’s a small niche and it doesn’t have potential to become authority. I plan to sell this for 10k when the moment is right.

To sell a website for 10.000 $, it needs to produce at least 300$ / month, which is 10$ / day. Meaning I need around 2 sales per day to hit this goal and trust me this is not that hard.
I am hoping in max 24 months I can hit this.

• Post +17.000 words.
• Optimized all the articles
• Changed all the links to rel sponsored (planning to write about this in the near future)

This month I need to create a homepage for this site.

I started my first email marketing campaign. I used Mailchimp and managed to send 2 emails with an open rate of over 30% and a 9% click rate. From what I heard this is good stats. One guy even replied and said he wants to work with me.

I want to be more organized, I want to improve my work ethic.

Alright, alright. Let’s set some goals today.

As I am slowly building my network I need to create some short term and long term goals.

Let’s take it easy and see how much time do I need to hit those goals.

Just to be clear I don’t take the digital agency into consideration but I will keep count of traffic and words posted.

So that’s why I don’t put a higher goal for now. I know all my domains are fresh so I am not expecting to earn 7 figures…, yet, just hold on

Speaking of that I created a plan per week and divided my websites on different days.

For example, now I know if it’s Monday, I am working on this website, if it’s Tuesday on that one and so on.

It’s a slow growth of traffic since in the first 3 months didn’t have time to work on the website. But it’s okay for the Romanian market.

I don’t know yet where should I got with this one.

I mean I created landing pages and everything where I present my services but I don’t have the team or the budget to rank in this competitive niche.

First milestone: 10$/month.

My ranking website process.

Here is a sneak peek of my ranking websites process.

1.Keyword research

So first I start with keyword research. Here I find my niche than I define my main keyword. My dream keyword the one that will drive me the most money, or the one that I am hoping to rank for.

From that, I find secondary keywords and plan 100.000 words of content on that niche for my content writers.

2.Build the website

Here I connect the domain name with nameservers and install WordPress.

Why WordPress? Well because it’s the best. Sure you can find some cones about WordPress, but for me, it’s the most user-friendly CMS.

You can literally build a website in a day.

I continue by creating my homepage, categories, and install all the necessary modules to personalize my website.

In the end, I create a contact page/ about page and call it a day.

3. Post 30.000 words of articles

Yes, If I have that I might post it on that day. It doesn’t matter if you post all of them on the same day or slowly publish content.

Google is gonna find them in a few days and index, if it’s an old domain they will index faster.

I create a website structure, silo, and a nice format.

4. Optimize on Page

Here I can talk a lot, there’s a lot of things you can do. Here is where the magic starts.

Probably I will talk about this more in-depth later and come back and put an internal link here So make sure you come back on this page.

Other than that I make sure to hit at least 70-page speed on mobile and 90 on the desktop for all my websites.

To me, user experience is very important. When I enter on a website and it takes more than 3 seconds to load I exit. That’s why I optimize my websites every time.

5. Build Backlinks

I only start to build backlinks when I hit 30.000 words.

I don’t have a specific reason why I choose this number 30.000, I just like it.

Plus, think about it. If your domain is brand new, no one knows about it, if you were Google’s place, would you expect on the first day to get over 1.000 backlinks in the very first day?

So, slowly start to build backlinks. Try to spy competitors too and diversify backlink profile.

After that, repeat number 3, 4 and 5 till you hit 100.000 words.

Then, wait and analyze your progress and make a decision.

To me, this website is like an online journal where I keep my progress.

Ok, so, without any further introduction, let’s start the update.

Things I did in May:

• We completely redesigned the homepage of the digital agency.
• Signed 2 new clients.
• Started an SEO introduction course for the Romanian market. I wrote over 8.000 words till now.
• Designed a landing page template for the future services we will provide.
• Posted new content for my digital agency and other affiliates sites.
• I signed a deal with a writer for 120.000 words which I am planning to distribute over my websites.
• Keyword research for my future website.
• A lot of paperwork …

Website Progress

So as I was talking in my last update, now I am 25.

Which made me be more serious about my goals and how I perceive time in general.

Let’s look at the famous table and see how it looks this month.

I am super excited about these websites and planning to create at least 2 more now that I have more content writers.

Next month I plan to

• Move all the website on a better hosting.
• Create at least one more website for affiliate marketing.

My strategy is relatively simple:

For an authority website, get to 100.000 words of content and then start link building.

For a small niche website, get to 30.000 words and then start link building.

So you see I put content in the first place and then link building. It’s because I always optimize my websites for my audience not for search engines.

At the end of the day, the ultimate visitor is a human, not a bot.

I remember when I was a kid, I always told my parents I am going to be a millionaire by the time I am 25. I never give up on that goal. Now I am 25 and I am not a millionaire :)), yet…

Someone told me “When something fails, don’t change the goal, change the timeframe”. And that’s what I am doing. The next timeframe is 30 years old.

I feel closer and closer to that goal, every day I am learning something new, planning my next move, reading, working on my business. It will happen, I know for sure because I put my mind on it!

What happens right now in the world, It could be the worse financial crisis in the last 100 years but I am not letting this demotivate me.

Without further ado, let’s start our 1 million journey update.

Digital Agency Update

In terms of revenue, this was the worst month of all. My business got hit by recent events. I know the situation is bad but I am super positive about the next years.

The economy is cyclical, yes today is winter, but someone will get rich even if it’s winter. I will survive

I got 2 new clients this month and an exchange deal. The bad part is that these 2 new clients didn’t get me that much revenue. But the good part is that I think I found a gold method to bring some good revenue in the next years.

Website Recap

Now you know from my previous update that I plan to create an authority website. And that’s exactly what I did.

Let’s set a name for my websites.

DAR and DAI are my digital agency websites.

INS and MEN are the websites I built this month.

4 websites for now. I made a table where I track Total Words and Organic Traffic/month.

Digital Agency

Here we saw a significant fall, in the first three weeks when the “panicking” happened we basically had 0 revenue.

We stayed home as well since 13 march, so it’s been three weeks since we work from home.

The phone stopped calling.

I knew I had to do something, or else we will have nothing to do since I am not planning to be a spectator in all of this.

I must take action. 

So what did I do? I stopped the Google Ads campaign for a while because it wasn’t profitable.

With the money remained from Google Ads, I started to create an ad copy for Facebook.

Facebook Campaign

Keep in mind that this was the first time when I am advertising my agency on Facebook since I knew from my previous campaigns that entrepreneurs don’t stay on Facebook.

Now you may ask, why Facebook?

I noticed that a lot of entrepreneurs are sharing their thoughts on groups, and they are searching for answers on how to pass these awful times.

So I created not one, not two, but six ads that target “small business owners.” 

I split these six ads into two categories: one with a short ad copy and another with a long ad copy.

Let me show you a quick screenshot after three days of rolling the ad.

So, what is interesting here is that the short ad copy got six at relevance score and the one with the long text got 8. (it was 9 in the first two days)
After 5 days of testing, I stopped 5 out of 6 ad copies and kept the best performing ad. (which is the long text ad copy)
The ad got amazing feedback. I even got one comment where a lady says, “The first awesome ad I read in a long time. I read everything and even managed to click the website. Congrats!”
This is a rough translation, since the ad copy is in Romanian, for the Romanian market.
As a result, the phone started to ring again and got some leads on email.

What was in the ad copy?

I am going to try to explain it, not translate it. Basically, I was trying to monetize fear. There is a popular tactic in persuasion called “problem/relief.”

It’s really simple.

• You identify the problem.
• You talk about the repercussions of the problem. 
• Create tension.
• Then you present the relief, how you can solve his problem and save everything. 
• In the end, you give him a call to action. (your website) 

Now let’s apply this to our situation.

The problem – Offline businesses are facing a 70% to 100% drop in revenue because of the virus.

Repercussion – The business will shut down, and their family will be affected (ad a dramatic feel)

Relief / Solution – Your business needs to adapt, evolve.

Call to action – Your agency can transform their offline business to an online store.

I am seeing good results at the moment with this tactic. The ad is receiving likes, shares, and comments.

Go and test it for yourself. Add a personal touch and share the results with me
Next is:

Content Strategy. 

Because I stayed inside for three weeks already, that gave me more time to focus on things like content strategy.

For my main money site, I wrote 16,288 words. Here’s proof:

In total, I got: 54,404 words, which translates in 4 hours and 32 minutes of reading.

I wrote lengthy articles with high-quality value for the Romanian market. I am going to show all these agencies what SEO means :)).
Planing to go for 100.000 words by the end of the year, but probably I am going to hit this number a lot faster.

It starts to rank in 5 months, even though I created 0 backlinks :)).

The SEO game is starting to change; the spammy links don’t work anymore. And in the Romanian market, the SEO agencies are still grinding on the same old tactics with content from 2012.

I am going to outrank them once I am ready with my content. After 100.000, I am starting Off-page SEO.

Let’s go to the next part of the update.

Building an authority site

Ok, now remember when I told I want to create an authority site besides my agency sites.

I started to find joy again on growing websites, so I started another site.

What has been done so far:

• Niche research. I believe we found a golden nugget here Very curious to see how it will perform.
• Content strategy for the website
• The first article with 3000 words.
• Home page design
• About us page design
• On-page optimization for two pages
• Meta description
• Dream keywords research

There is a lot to do in the future for this website. Again I will push at least 50.000 words before I start with building links.

I am excited about this one since it is an evergreen niche. A lot of possible ways to monetize this one.

I am planning to treat this as a study case. Unfortunately, I will not share the niche for now.

I am counting from 1 April 2020 to 1 April 2022. So 2 years from now to see what happens.

Future

In the future, I want to share with you guys, more cool ways to acquire clients.

Treat subjects in-depth like funnels, content strategy, ads strategies.
